Fourth Aircraft Maintenance Hangar to be Built at Katowice Airport – Building to be leased by Wizz Air / Katowice Airport Investment Program for 2024–2028

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL S.A.) will build a fourth aircraft maintenance hangar at Katowice Airport. The building will be leased by Wizz Air. Currently, the building is being designed.

GTL S.A. estimates that a construction works contractor will be chosen by the end of 2024, and the built hangar will be placed into servive by January 2026. The surface of the fourth hangar will be approx. 10 thousand sq. m; it will have two bays allowing to serve aircraft the size of Airbus A321neo. There will be numerous technical and storage rooms in the building (e.g. paint shop, grindery). The hangar will have a three-storey office and social facility, with a part dedicated for carrying out trainings.

After putting the fourth maintenance hangar into service, the total surface of infrastructure used for aircraft maintenance at Katowice Airport will exceed 32 thousand sq. m. In total, there will be eight bays allowing to serve Code C aircraft (Boeing 737/Airbus A320).
